Dynamic Learning

Our award-winning, nationally recognized Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) is the first of a two-step Bachelor’s degree program for future teachers. This four-semester program prepares students to become experts in creating exciting and effective learning environments and leaders in their fields. Students participate in required general studies courses, internships, and classroom experience in preparation for transfer to any of Arizona’s three state universities with an associate’s degree and a strong foundation in learning theory. Courses in DLP lead to degrees in early childhood, elementary, special education and multilingual/multicultural education.

Dynamic Learning Paraprofessional Certification

In our DLP Paraprofessional Pathway to Certification, we work directly with local elementary and secondary school districts to better prepare Teacher’s Aides, and to help the Districts grow their own teachers! We offer courses that can lead to a Transfer Partnership Degree to a state university for teacher certification. Classes are taught on-site and are designed to meet the needs of working students.

Early Childhood

Our Early Childhood Development Program emphasizes working with multi-linguistic and multicultural children ages three to five. It prepares students to work effectively with children and families in Head Start programs and child care centers, and as family homecare providers, promoting the improvement of existing skills and career advancement. Classes offered also fulfill the requirements for those wishing to apply for the national CDA certification. Courses are offered on Saturdays or evenings to accommodate working students.

Montessori

The Montessori Teacher Education program is designed to prepare students for a career in teaching early childhood in Montessori schools. We offer a professional teacher education program affiliated with a nationally recognized certification program and the opportunity to earn a Certificate of Completion in Early Childhood Development/Montessori. Students may continue academic work for an AAS degree in Early Childhood Development/Montessori. Upon the completion of the program, students will be equipped to work effectively with children and families in both school and home environments, and to initiate upward career movement or improve existing skills.

Courses are taken in sequence over a two year period and are offered in the evenings or on Saturdays at the SMCC campus or at local Montessori schools.
