Fingerprint Clearance Requirement

Arizona state law now requires any person who participates in a teacher preparation program that is approved by the Arizona State Board of Education to obtain a fingerprint clearance card before participating in field experience in which services will be provided directly to pupils. Although Rio Salado College and Scottsdale Community College are the only State Board approved colleges in the Maricopa County Community College District, many school districts are requiring that college students be fingerprinted PRIOR to participating in field experiences at their schools.

The Maricopa County Community College District has ten colleges throughout the greater Phoenix area that serve thousands of students. Teacher education programs are offered at all ten colleges; early childhood programs are offered at seven. All colleges partner with universities in an effort to make your journey to becoming a teacher a smooth one.

Associate in Arts in Elementary Education Degree

The Associate in Arts in Elementary Education (AAEE) is a statewide degree for students who want to pursue a career in elementary education, early childhood education, special education or multilingual/multicultural education. Partnership Programs

Students interested in transferring to Arizona State University (ASU) after obtaining an associate’s degree at a Maricopa Community College are encouraged to participate in the Maricopa-ASU Alliance Program.
