Dr. Naomi Story
APIA Founder and Honorary Advisor


Dr. Naomi Story is Faculty Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Mesa Community College, the largest of 10 Maricopa Community Colleges in Arizona. Here she fosters faculty learning and develops teaching and learning innovations. She also provides instructional design support to faculty and administrators in their efforts to enhance teaching and learning opportunities for MCCD students.

Dr. Story has recently moved from the Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction where she supported and led major district-wide and national initiatives in teaching, learning, and technology for over 16 years.  She has a Ph.D. in Educational Technology/Instructional Design, an M.A. in Instructional Media, and a B.A. in Creative Writing/English.

Dr. Story was the founder of the Asian Pacific Islander Association.  She currently serves as Chair, Asian Pacific American Caucus of the American Association for Higher Education (AAHE).  Naomi is also a member of the  State Attorney General's Asian Community Advisory, ASU President's (Michael Crow) Minority Advisory, and President's Asian Community.

Naomi is a san-sei, third generation Japanese American from Maui, Hawaii.  She has two daughters, one husband, a cat, and a dog.
