In 1997, the Renewal Committee developed a philosophical statement to reflect what renewal means to the employees of the Maricopa Community Colleges:
"Renewal at Maricopa means personal and organizational learning. It means restoring or revitalizing ourselves and the organization in some way, finding personal meaning in our work. It means reviving our values, personally and organizationally, and changing our behavior so our culture changes. It also means expanding our capacity to be creative. Renewal is exemplified in diverse programs and activities - to meet the needs of employees and the entire organization of Maricopa."

Renewal Mind Map
A Few Definitions:
"Renew: to make new or fresh again; to re-establish, revive; to resume; to repeat; to put in a fresh supply of ; to give or get an extension of."
Websterís New World Dictionary
"Renewal is concerned with the revival in mature organizations of the values,
feelings, excitement, and emotional commitment often experienced only in the beginning
of an organization.
To renew an organization is to restore or revitalize it in some way.
Renewal is thus about how we make sense of our lives and those of our organizations;
it is about the restoration of meaning to work."

Renewal for many individuals at the Maricopa Community Colleges means personal and professional growth. It means restoring, reviving and expanding ourselves and the organization by pursuing new experiences.
