
Get a Head Start in the Healthcare Field
Are you a first-year high school student taking math or science courses and interested in a future healthcare career? If you meet the criteria for either of our Achieving a College Education (ACE) or Hoop of Learning programs, you can apply for our ACE and Hoop Healthcare Program to complete up to 50 college credits toward a healthcare degree while still in high school!
In this program, you will complete math and science pre/co-requisite courses at one of five Maricopa Community Colleges. You can use these courses to meet general requirements for a Maricopa Community Colleges associate degree in Nursing (AAS) and potentially a bachelor's degree in Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN).
The Achieving a College Education and Hoop of Learning Programs
We want students of all ages and backgrounds to succeed in college. For current high school students, we offer the Achieving a College Education (ACE) and Hoop of Learning programs, both of which we've created to support first generation students and students with economic and family hardships.

The ACE and Hoop Healthcare Program will prepare you to:
- Graduate from high school with support from ACE and Hoop of Learning
- Transfer to a Maricopa Community College or a university
- Earn a certificate or degree
- Enter the workforce as a future healthcare professional
Who Qualifies?
The ACE and Hoop Healthcare Program is looking for current first year high school students who are taking a math or science course and meets at least one of the following criteria:
- First generation to attend college
- Living in a single-parent home, foster care, or temporary housing
- Experiencing economic hardship
- Environmental factors, such as working while attending high school, or is a teen parent
- Applications will also be evaluated based on the following: recommender responses and student essay, etc.
At the college's discretion, student interviews may be conducted as part of the application process.
This program is not restricted to participants on any protected basis, including race, color, or national origin. All individuals are encouraged to apply and participate.
