What You'll Learn
  • Outline roles, responsibilities and authorities of construction project participants as related to safety and health.
  • Practice the use of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standards as related to safety at construction site.
  • Identify hazards on construction site as defined by OSHA safety standards.
  • Employ record-keeping methods in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Identify incident rates and relate to current hazard communication methods in work place.
  • Describe methods of vehicle safety, electrical safety, tool safety, confined space safety, emergency response, and fire prevention.
  • Identify and relate to personal safety, fall protection/focused inspection, lifting and ergonomics, material handling, and machine guarding.
  • Explain personal liability issues as defined by OSHA.
  • Rank ethical and safety issues on a construction site as defined by OSHA.

Course Sequence by Term

The following is the suggested course sequence by term. Please keep in mind:

  • Initial course placement is determined by current district placement measures and/or completion of 100-200 level course and/or program requirements.
  • Degree and transfer seeking students may be required to successfully complete a MCCCD First Year Experience Course (FYE) within the first two semesters at a MCCCD College.
