Phlebotomy for Healthcare Professionals
The Certificate of Competency (CCT) in Phlebotomy for Healthcare Professionals is a fast-paced program tailored for individuals who either possess or are in the process of completing health professions training in various fields including but not limited to nursing, medical assisting, emergency medical technology (EMT), and phlebotomists. This program is tailored to those wanting to re-enter the workforce by obtaining recertification or upskilling and adding an additional certification.

This program is not eligible for Title IV Federal Financial Aid.
Students will be required to have a minimum of 50 successful live draws to sit for the national certification examination. The expense of the examination is the student`s responsibility.
Students must meet all required program competencies in order to receive a passing grade. This program is a P (pass) or Z (no pass) graded program.
- Describe the importance of specimen collection in the overall client/patient care including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. (PLC211)
- Apply quality assurance standards for phlebotomy (PLC211)
- Apply Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and laboratory safety in phlebotomy. (PLC211)
- Demonstrate the use of equipment for collecting blood specimens by venipuncture. (PLC211)
- Perform proper procedures in basic venous blood collection. (PLC211)
- Describe specialized tests performed in phlebotomy. (PLC211)
- Perform proper technique on specialized collection procedures. (PLC211)
- Describe the collection of non-blood specimens. (PLC211)
- Demonstrate various specialized methods in specimen handling, referencing, storing, and transporting laboratory specimens. (PLC211)
