Film and Media Production
The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Film and Media Production is designed to help students develop the creative and technical skills needed to work in the competitive film and video industry. Students receive comprehensive training in the craft, process, and theory behind visual storytelling. The program uses the latest technologies and provides opportunities for students to develop their skills and professionalism with real world projects, both in the laboratory and on location. This program is focused on independent filmmaking with the spirit of entrepreneurship in the field. A Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Documentary Film Production is also available.

Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses within the program.
This pathway map will help you gain the expertise needed to:
- Produce independent media using digital tools and technologies according to industry standards.
- Synthesize principles of story, cinematography, sound, editing, and art in the development of film and media productions.
- Integrate critical thinking skills and knowledge of historical and current trends in film in the production of current and future work.
- Employ industry standards for safety and set etiquette in a production environment.
- Apply knowledge of industry roles and techniques for each stage of the production cycle, from development through distribution.
- Demonstrate collaboration and inclusivity to promote an ethical and diverse work environment.
- Demonstrate qualifications and experience as a competitive film and media industry professional in written and oral communication.
- Apply relevant knowledge, skills, and habits of mind to seek career opportunities in the field.

Course Sequence by Term
The following is the suggested course sequence by term. Please keep in mind:

- The course sequence is laid out by suggested term and may be affected when students enter the program at different times of the year.
- Initial course placement is determined by current district placement measures and/or completion of 100-200 level course and/or program requirements.
- Degree and transfer seeking students may be required to successfully complete a MCCCD First Year Experience Course (FYE) within the first two semesters at a MCCCD College. Courses include FYE101 and FYE103. Course offerings will vary by college. See an academic, program, or faculty advisor for details.
