Placement Coach

The Maricopa Placement Coach is a tool that uses high school GPA or test scores from ACT, SAT, GED, ACCUPLACER, and EdReady to provide course recommendations. Select your placement options and then enter the appropriate value (GPA or test scores) to see your recommended course placement. Check the Email Placement Results box to receive your course recommendations via email.

We encourage you to share your results with your advisor when you begin the enrollment process.

High School GPA

  • Student has completed 2+ years of high school coursework and the last date of high school attendance was within the last 10 years.
  • Student’s high school transcript includes an unweighted, cumulative high school GPA of 2.6 or higher, based on a 4.0 scale.
  • COVID-19 exception - HS transcripts that are more than 10 years old may be used for placement into English and Reading courses. The 10 year limit still applies, however, for mathematics placement and the Student Success Course exemption.

ACCUPLACER

  • Placement based on individual subject area test scores; students are permitted one retest in English, reading, or math level after at least a 24-hour waiting period. ONE additional retest is permitted no sooner than three months from the oldest valid score date at any MCCCD placement Testing site. Course placement scores, with the exception of the reading exemption scores, will be valid for two years from the date of the original or retest assessment.
  • COVID-19 exception – ACCUPLACER scores up to 5 years old may be used for placement.
