The Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) is a recipient of the fifth annual “Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges” award, presented by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) and Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.
“We are honored to be recognized for our collective work around this very important issue,” said Dr. Maria Harper-Marinick, MCCCD Chancellor. “This award demonstrates our commitment to providing a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming atmosphere on campus for our students, faculty, and staff.”
“The Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges” award recognizes community and technical colleges based on their commitment to recruit and retain diverse students, faculty, and staff, create an inclusive campus environment, and the opportunity to participate in meaningful professional development and community service projects.
The Maricopa County Community College District is among 19 award-winning community and technical colleges recognized during NISOD’s International Conference of Teaching and Leadership Excellence, May 25 – 28, in Austin, Texas.
The conference included presentations by South Mountain Community College Vice President, Learning (Academic Affairs) Clyne Namuo and Senior Program Analyst Kyle Mitchell, “Collaborative, Inclusive Academic Master Planning at South Mountain Community College, a Maricopa Community College,” GateWay Community College Program Director Jeanne Dial, “Onboarding Clinical Instructors and Preceptors,” and Phoenix College faculty Scott Geddis, “The Power of Hope: Increasing Student Success.”
