Search for Maricopa Community Colleges Chancellor Begins

The Governing Board of the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) is seeking the District’s 5th chancellor. The next Chancellor will be joining the institution during a pivotal point in its history. MCCCD is in the midst of advancing the transformation plan, focused on Student Support and Guided Pathways, Industry Partnerships, and Enterprise Performance. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional leader to develop and execute the System’s strategic plan, while striving to make higher education more affordable and accessible to students, their families and communities, and our society as a whole.

The process to search and select a Chancellor must be thoughtful, transparent, collaborative, inclusive, and thorough. To manage this process, the Governing Board enlisted the support of search firm Diversified Search to handle the recruiting for this position. MCCCD Governing Board President, Dr. Linda Thor, and Governing Board Secretary, Ms. Kathleen Winn, are serving in the capacity of Chair and Vice-Chair for the Search Committee. The Search Committee is comprised of internal and external stakeholders who all represent an interest in the success of the Maricopa Community Colleges. The Chancellor Search Committee is charged with identifying and selecting candidates as finalists for consideration. The Governing Board will ultimately select the most highly qualified applicants for this position.

The 21-member Chancellor Search Committee comprises broad representation of the districtwide community, including students, community leaders, faculty, and staff. The members who will bring diverse life and work experiences to committee discussions and deliberations include:

  • Mr. Neil Giuliano, CEO, Greater Phoenix Leadership
  • Ms. Nora Gutierrez, Superintendent, Tolleson Union High School District
  • Mr. Keith Heffner, Faculty, Mesa Community College
  • Mr. Edgar Soria Martinez, Student, Mesa Community College
  • Mr. Rudy Parga, Board Chair, Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation
