A graphic for Black History Month

Throughout February, the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) will celebrate Black History Month with a month-long series of events ranging from a Black History Mobile Museum with a speech by Professor Griff, a former member of Public Enemy, to African Drumming performances and Dance Theatre.

“The Maricopa Community Colleges are proud to celebrate the rich histories and extraordinary impact African Americans have made and continue to build on our culture and society, said Dr. Steven Gonzales, MCCCD Interim Chancellor. “We invite our entire community of students, faculty, staff, and the public to join us as we celebrate Black History Month with a series of events that reflect on the achievements and legacies of African Americans.”

MCCCD highlights the essence of our diverse community, reflecting the people we serve. By providing quality education, the Maricopa Community Colleges build local economies, strengthen families, and sustain a high quality of life in our communities. We are committed to ensuring all members of the Maricopa community have the opportunity to engage with Black History Month in meaningful ways that provide opportunities for dialogue, and a time to reflect on the lives and contributions of African Americans. Please enjoy a month filled with cultural festivities, prestigious guest speakers, art exhibits, and films. All events are free and open to the public.
