The Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) was pleased to recently welcome Senator Mark Kelly to Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC), one of its 10 Colleges across Greater Phoenix. Senator Kelly joined District and College leadership at CGCC’s Williams Campus in Mesa for a tour of its aviation program facilities and drone and flight simulation lab.
In the U.S. alone, the aviation industry employed nearly 700,000 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-certified pilots in 2020, demonstrating this high-demand field's potential to influence the local economy and stimulate the job market - especially as the travel industry begins to see growth after the halt due to the pandemic.
CGCC’s aviation program offers a comprehensive education that aims to inspire, challenge, and prepare students for the FAA written and practical exams. The program includes both flight labs and ground courses, and covers aviation pilot instruction for private and commercial single- and multi-engine aircraft, instruments, flight instructor certifications, and airline operation procedures.
Watch to learn more from Senator Kelly about the value of hands-on workforce education, how it influences economic growth, and the jobs of the future.
