Kelli Butler and Donna Davis will join the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) Governing Board in January 2023 as the Board’s newest members. Incumbent Governing Board President Marie Sullivan retains her board seat. The trio will each serve a four-year term that expires in 2026.
“I extend my sincerest appreciation to outgoing Board Members Jean McGrath and Kathleen Winn for their dedicated service to the System,” said MCCCD Chancellor, Dr. Steven R. Gonzales.
Since 2015, Ms. McGrath, District 4, has served two terms on MCCCD’s Governing Board, and Ms. Winn, Member-At-Large, has served the Board since 2019.
As elected officials, MCCCD’s Governing Board Members serve staggered four-year terms and volunteer their time and energy to advancing the work of the District and the System’s ten colleges. The seven-seat board includes five elected positions from geographical districts within Maricopa County and two at-large positions, representing the entire county.
“Our System plays a vital role in the economic vitality of our region and in the lives of nearly 100,000 students each year. I am excited to work together with this new Governing Board to continue to position Maricopa Community Colleges, as a leader in the academic area,” said Chancellor Gonzales.
“I have appreciated serving with Governing Board Members Jean McGrath and Kathleen Winn over the last several years,” MCCCD Governing Board President Marie Sullivan said. “Together as a Governing Board, despite many challenges amidst a global pandemic, MCCCD persevered and continued to offer new innovative resources – including groundbreaking workforce development programs and baccalaureate degrees – to our students, faculty, and staff,” continued President Sullivan. “I look forward in welcoming our new Governing Board Members Kelli Butler and Donna Davis to the Maricopa family and continuing our success for years to come. In addition, I am honored to serve another 4-year term as Governing Board Member beginning in January 2023 and continue working with the Governing Board, Chancellor Gonzales, as well as the District on several priorities we have put in place.”
A Swearing-In Ceremony for Butler, Davis, and President Sullivan will be held in January 2023.
