May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. To celebrate, the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) invites community members to attend a variety of college-hosted events exploring the histories, themes, and issues of significance to the Asian American and Pacific Islander experience.
“Each May, we come together with our entire community of learners to honor, celebrate, and uplift Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage,” said MCCCD Interim Chancellor Dr. Steven Gonzales. “We hope you will be able to join us for this month-long celebration that provides an opportunity, through events and conversations, to deepen our commitment to diversity and lifelong learning among a supportive and engaged community.”
AAPI Heritage Month events are set to take place throughout May allowing participants to explore issues of environmental justice and equity, the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II, and the emotional health of college-going Asian youth today.
Below is a sampling of events happening across the District. A full list of events can be found here.
