In honor of National Transfer Student Week, October 21-25, the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) and Utah Tech University formalized an articulation agreement that ensures a seamless transfer process for students transferring from the system’s 10 colleges to Utah Tech University.

“Utah Tech University is honored to enter into this agreement with MCCCD,” Chris Guymon, acting provost and vice president of academic affairs at Utah Tech University, said. “We have a shared commitment to provide students with the preparation needed to succeed in their chosen fields, achieve professional success, and have an impact in their organizations and communities.”

The articulation agreement outlines a mutually beneficial partnership between MCCCD and Utah Tech University, allowing for quick transfers of general education courses up to a maximum of 80 credits from all 10 MCCCD colleges to Utah Tech.

"We are excited to partner with Utah Tech University to create seamless transfer pathways that empower students to continue their educational journey with confidence and success," said Rose Rojas, MCCCD's Director of Curriculum and Transfer. "This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to expanding access to higher education and equipping students with the tools they need to achieve their academic and career goals."

Utah Tech University is the first public institution in Utah to partner with MCCCD. This partnership also provides career options to MCCCD students, with opportunities to fill more than 90,000 job openings in Utah as of June 2024, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

During the 2023-2024 academic year, 6,672 MCCCD students transferred to in-state institutions, 74 to out-of-state institutions, and 1,436 to online institutions. MCCCD is the nation’s largest community college system, with 10 individually-accredited colleges and 31 satellite locations. With an expansive network of public and private university transfer partnerships in the U.S. and abroad, MCCCD provides students with additional post-secondary education pathways to complete their bachelor’s or master’s degrees. By broadening access to university transfer partners, MCCCD increases the viability of transfer success, ensuring students are academically prepared to continue their education at a traditional four-year institution and ultimately be successful in their future careers.
