HyFlex Session!
Welcome and Introductions:
Dr. Lisa Rae Armour, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, Maricopa Community Colleges
Keynote:
Dr. Hana Lahr, Senior Research Associate & Director of Applied Learning at the Community College Research Center
Strengthening Pathways to Educational and Career Success
Over the last 10 years, CCRC has conducted research with more than 100 community colleges across the country and has evaluated the effectiveness of guided pathways reforms as well as broader student success reform efforts. This research points to areas of progress as well as strategies for strengthening the work, including ensuring that programs are preparing students for good jobs and further education, recruiting and onboarding students into programs, and supporting students to complete a program in a timely and affordable way.
In this keynote, after providing a brief overview of where the pathways movement has been, what we have learned, and where it can go next, Hana will leverage transparency as a productive construct to help staff, faculty and administrators think about what is required to help students successfully complete a program, as well as articulate ways that college faculty and staff can work together to help students explore, choose, and complete a program aligned with their goals.
This session will focus on actionable steps that the Maricopa Colleges' staff, faculty, and administrators can take to further the pathways work and support students to educational and career success.
