Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer
Brian Spicker is an award-winning and innovative nonprofit leader with a strong reputation for directing transformational programs and initiatives for Arizona-based organizations. He has expertise in the evaluation and implementation of community-wide campaigns that support strategic partnerships that drive revenue, change policy, and develop human services.
Most recently, Mr. Spicker was the Chief Program Officer and Senior Vice President for Community Impact at Valley of the Sun United Way. In this role, he had exceptional success leading teams through large-scale fundraising initiatives that focused on ensuring children and youth succeed, ending hunger and homelessness, and increasing the financial stability of individuals and families.
Prior to joining United Way, Brian was the Executive Director for Southwest Center, an HIV/AIDS research and resource center formerly known as Body Positive, Inc. Brian also served as the Director of Development for an abuse prevention organization and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for violence prevention and support. Early in his career, Brian championed the development of the first set of state-funded group homes for the developmentally disabled.
Mr. Spicker holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Western International University and remains very active in the community. Brian is Associate Faculty at Arizona State University, and Co-Founder and Co-Chair of Arizona Early Childhood Alliance. In addition, Brian serves on the City of Phoenix’s Traumatic Incident Intervention Response Committee, and is a past member of ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation, Leadership Council.
