Biographies

Kim has been teaching at Phoenix College since 2009, teaching Art Marketing, and The Portfolio. Her business experience as an Artist Representative and personal experience as an artist have given her extensive real life experience to guide her students through learning how to market their own work.

While at Phoenix College, Kim has served as Adjunct Faculty Rep since Spring 2020. During her tenure as PC Rep Kim has served on many committees for PC and the AFA. The work done on these committees has given Kim a greater understanding of how adjuncts can play a role in MCCCD and the individual colleges. She was elected as President for the Adjunct Faculty Group, and started her 2 year term on July 1st.

Calvin DeVoll is the Co-President of Maricopa Community Colleges Staff Representation. He is Adjunct Faculty for South Mountain Community College, where he teaches in the Business and Information Technology department. He is also the President of MVET, Maricopa Veterans Education Taskforce.

Prior to becoming Co-President of Staff Representation, he was a Program Director at Rio Salado College, where he supervised IT teams and Auxiliary Services, and managed projects throughout the college. Before working at Rio Salado College, he ran the New Student Orientation and First Year Experience at South Mountain Community College and coached football at Phoenix College. Calvin is a Veteran of the United States Navy.

Calvin is a certified PMP, Project Management Professional, and Scrum Master. He obtained his associate degree from Phoenix College, then acquired his bachelor’s degree in supply chain management from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. In 2016 he completed his master’s degree in educational leadership at Northern Arizona University. Calvin is currently enrolled at Kansas State University in the Community College Leadership Doctorate Program.

Dr. Heather Kruse has served the Maricopa County Community College District for more than 25 years. She has served as the Vice President of Student Affairs at Phoenix College since 2018. In this leadership role, Heather leads the Division of Student Affairs inclusive of enrollment services, student development, retention, and success programs, and Athletics, as well as serving as the college's Title IX Coordinator. Prior to her role as Vice President, Heather served as the Dean of Student Affairs, providing leadership over enrollment services housed in a “One-Stop” student center, namely, recruitment, admissions and records, academic advising and transfer services, career services, financial aid, early college programs, student success and retention initiatives, student conduct, and Title IX investigations.

Heather completed her doctorate and master’s degrees in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University and her bachelor’s degree in English and Health Promotion/Wellness from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. She is also a contributing author of Developing Non-Hierarchical Leadership on Campus, Case Studies and Best Practices in Higher Education. Heather has committed her career to improving student outcomes, retention and success, creating and sustaining diverse and inclusive environments, leadership development, and creating healthy academic communities. A first generation college student raised in the Midwest, Heather now enjoys living in Phoenix with her family, hiking and exploring Arizona.

Dr. Lisa Marsio, Ph.D., MBA, M.A., has been with the Maricopa Community College District since 2001, first working as a Budget Analyst at the District Office and then moving into the faculty ranks. She has been part of the Anthropology residential faculty at Scottsdale Community College since 2008, additionally serving in the roles of department chair, Faculty Senate President, and IC chair. During the summers, Dr. Marsio is working on archaeological field excavations, most recently at Tell Abel Beth Maacah in Northern Israel.

Shannon Monge started her college education at Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) in the Honors Program. Shannon earned her associate degree in general studies and transferred to ASU West where she received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Shannon is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Educational Leadership—Community College/Higher Education through NAU.

Shannon worked as a paralegal for a law firm in Scottsdale, AZ., while her husband served in the U.S. Army. When they were stationed in Belgium, she worked for the U.S. State Department at NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization).

Upon returning to Arizona, Shannon held several temporary positions throughout the Maricopa County Community College District—Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Scottsdale Community College, and Paradise Valley Community College. Shannon has worked as a Division Administrative Assistant, Front Desk Receptionist for Administration, PASS Time Desk for Athletics, and Tutoring Front Desk Assistant. Shannon obtained her current full-time position as an Administrative Assistant Senior in 2016. Shannon has worked with diverse colleagues in many different settings and has worked collaboratively with all levels of leadership. Her diverse background within and outside of the District helps achieve the goals Staff Representation would like to see happen.

Shannon is currently in her third term as Co-President for Staff Representation and is passionate about advocating on behalf of all classified staff.

Shannon met her husband while at PVCC, and they have three children.

David O’Shea, M.Ed. has held the role of Vice President since August, 2015, when he was selected to lead the Rio Salado College IS Division. This division includes networking, programming, project management, and technology support. He has more than 30 years of information technology and business leadership experience in corporate and academic environments.

O’Shea holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Nevada, Reno, and an associate degree in information technology from Chandler-Gilbert Community College. He also holds a number of industry certifications from Microsoft, CompTia and Cisco, as well as being ITIL and Six Sigma certified.

Prior to joining Rio Salado, he served as Senior Systems Administrator and Business Process Analyst for KB Home in Phoenix, Arizona, and as Sales and Marketing manager for Phoenix Development and Investment in Reno, Nevada.

O’Shea serves as a member of the Chancellor's Executive Council, RSC President’s Advisory Council, RSC President’s Cabinet, and as the Chairperson of the District IT Leadership Council. In addition, he serves as Rio Salado College's United Way Giving Campaign chairperson, and chairperson for the We Are Rio Employee Giving Campaign, which raises funds for student scholarships. David has served as a scholarship reviewer for the Maricopa Community Colleges District Foundation for the past seven years.
